A home network is prone to security attack. Hackers can mine the data from your computer and can make unauthorized use of your network. Surely you can save the network from these attacks. There are certain tips which should always be used to make the network secure. Let us have a look at them.

A home network makes use of an administrative account which is operated by a username and a password. When the products come from factory, they have a default password and username. Factory username and password are the same in every Wi-Fi network, which means that there are many who will be aware of the password. Home network routers or access points come with MAC address filtering. This feature is generally turned off by default. But after the installation of the network the MAC address filtering should be tuned on to enhance the security of the network. Security for Wi-Fi LAN can be strengthened by enabling MAC address filtering. When the filter is disabled it is easy for an intruder to penetrate your home network.

Wireless routers and access points transmit network name into air regularly. This feature is necessary to allow clients to discover the WLANs. But this feature may be misused by the hacker to break into your home network. So, the SSID broadcast should be disabled.

Open Wi-Fi network should not be auto connected. It may expose the home network and computer to the hackers. Generally, computers allow these connections automatically by default settings. This setting should be changed in such manner that computer will ask you before connecting to the open network. It increases the security. This setting can be configured in control penal.

Computers have firewall automatically turned on. It prevents the computer from attacks. Sometimes this firewall is turned off. Make sure that it is turn on. By adopting the above mentioned measures you can make your home network secure and immune from hackers.
